"The 2026 China Green Fuel Development Report" is officially released
The "China Green Fuel Development Report (2026)", compiled by the Department of Energy Conservation and Technology Equipment of the National Energy Administration, has been officially released. The report systematically reviews the current status of green fuels such as green methanol, green synthetic ammonia, and sustainable aviation fuel. As of the end of 2025, China's installed green fuel capacity totaled approximately 800 million tons per year in oil equivalent.

2026 first half: Domestic hydrogen energy investment and financing remain active
Industry statistics show that in the first half of 2026, over 25 equity investments were completed in China's hydrogen sector. Provincial and municipal industrial funds across multiple regions have invested in water electrolysis equipment, green hydrogen projects, and storage and transportation technologies. Chongqing, Inner Mongolia, and other areas in Northwest China have launched major integrated wind-solar-hydrogen investment promotion projects.

Energy Bureau guides green hydrogen projects for supporting northern wind and solar bases
The National Energy Administration convened a symposium on new energy-rich provinces in northern China, encouraging the integration of electrolytic hydrogen production facilities with large-scale wind and solar bases. This approach leverages surplus daytime renewable power for hydrogen generation to address grid absorption challenges. Priority will be given to approving integrated wind-solar-hydrogen projects along the Yellow River region, including Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Ningxia.

Pipeline National Grid Releases Complete Technical Standard System for Hydrogen Transmission
The National Pipeline Network Group has officially released a comprehensive technical and standards system for hydrogen pipeline transportation. The group has overcome the critical challenge of hydrogen embrittlement in high-pressure pure hydrogen transmission, successfully developed 10 MPa dedicated hydrogen transport steel, and established China's highest-pressure-level hydrogen blending test platform. The technology covers two main pathways: constructing new pure hydrogen pipelines and retrofitting natural gas networks for hydrogen blending.

Implementation of the 15th Five-Year Renewable Energy Plan: Set a target for renewable hydrogen production to reach 200 million tons by 2030.
The 15th Five-Year Plan for Building a New Energy System has been officially released, marking the first inclusion of hydrogen in the core layout of China's new energy system. The plan calls for vigorous development of integrated wind-solar-hydrogen-ammonia-alcohol projects and encourages off-grid and weak-grid electrolysis for hydrogen production. Green hydrogen, ammonia, and alcohol bases will be established in regions with abundant wind and solar resources, including the "Yellow River S-curve," North China, and Northwest China.
